Civil War Undergarments II

Description

This be the corset, mates, as I'm sure ye can see. Step three in dressing.

Lining of white duck, outer fabric of some green striped stuff in the Jo-Ann's home decor section. 3/8" spring steel bones, 13" busk, size #0 grommets, 10 ft of lacing, two bust gores on each side, anything I'm missing?

I didn't make this long enough on top, and I ordered the bones a hair too long. It's okay, it's still gorgeous. I love it anyway.

I got blood all over the front at one point from a needle prick (not unusual), and I actually started crying because I thought it would stain and I had already put the busk in, which is in essence unwashable. However, my mom took it from me and returned it an hour later, wet, yes, but blood-free. Turns out our washing machine has a cycle that just swishes back and forth instead of spinning, which allows me to wash a corset, because the spin cycle is what causes bones to jam.

1860ish, as the title implies.

Early Fall 2004

Edit: forgot to mention, this was from a Laughing Moon pattern, the Silverado style

I adore that Laughing moon pattern! It fits rather comfortably for a corset, I think. Anyways, lovely job!
