This started off as an underskirt for the noble gown I've started, then branched off into its own outfit when I decided to make use of the extra purple fabric I had and some unused gold trim. The fabric is 100% silk (normally $20 a yard, I got it for $4.50 a yard, I was so proud). It laces up the back, has three pieces of boning, lined with 100% cotton corseting coutil. I found the two necklaces (one is now draped around the waist) and the gold and pearl scarf clip in my mom's old jewelry boxes. The gold bag hanging off the waist is silk as well, with a caul to match. Two and a half days for the whole thing. I made it on a whim and made it fast. It was fun and easy. Hehe. I think I could call this lower noble. (It looks much better on me than on the dress form, believe me; pictures of that, coming soon)

Purple = royalty, so I would consider this a Princess-like gown. And it's too pretty to just be lower upper class :D I have this purple brocade I wanna eventually use for a court gown, however, unless I give myself a Princess or Queen's persona, I can't because I would get picked on by the Faire cast members I know who follow the statutes pretty closely ^^;

Very nice. And with the color and fabric I bet it could also be a higher class day dress or travelling garment. You did a lovely job on this.

Thanks! Yeah, I must say that the middle class one, the creamsicle dress, is my favorite so far. The colors are just so fun, clean lines, not too hindering, with no hoopskirt. I've found I really like working the middle class. But, then again, a true noble costume is yet to come, so we'll see. I'm almost done!! And I only removed a few people for the price... no one too important... lol.

i love the texture and color of this fabric (mostly the texture though), and the little sleeves. is that yellow and red thing a fan?

--
keep the light on
Yep, it's a feather fan. And they're not really sleeves, they're shoulder treatments or epaulettes, necessary in this period. And I love the silk too. :)
